Основополагающие законодательные акты в области военного строительства США. По закону 1947 министерства родов войск (Сухопутных сил (Армии), Военно-воздушных сил и Военно-морских сил [ Army, U.S.; Air Force, U.S.; Navy, U.S.]) были объединены в Национальное военное ведомство [National Military Establishment] под единым началом гражданского министра обороны [ Secretary of Defense], а также образованы Совет национальной безопасности [ National Security Council] и подотчетное ему Центральное разведывательное управление (ЦРУ) [ Central Intelligence Agency].
